Intimate Landscapes to Calm a Busy Mind

Nature and landscape photos can impart many moods on the viewer, depending on the subject matter. A photo of waves crashing into a rocky shore can convey drama and awe, while a photo of the sun setting behind a distant mountain range can invoke feelings of reflection and wonder.

One type of photo that consistently brings me a sense of peace and calmness is “intimate landscapes.” These are photos of natural subjects shot at close distances, often depicting the endless shapes and patterns that exist in leaves, flowers, rocks, and flowing water.

I find having photos like these in my environment can literally bring down my blood pressure. For me, they are a reminder of the larger world we live in, and the greater power that is nature, which we all are a part of.
